The Gloucestershire Grammar Schools are introducing the new FSCE assessment, provided by Future Stories Community Enterprise (FSCE), for children seeking entry in September 2028.
The first new FSCE assessment for Gloucestershire is expected to take place in July 2027, when children will be in Year 5.
What do we know so far?
The new FSCE assessment will be closely linked to the primary school curriculum, using content taught up to the end of Year 5. English and Maths will form the main areas, alongside elements of the foundation subjects.
The focus will be on children’s ability to know, understand and apply their knowledge, together with critical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The new FSCE assessment will not include creative writing or traditional verbal and non-verbal reasoning papers. The full Gloucestershire specification and familiarisation materials have not yet been released, with further official information expected from the end of September 2026.
Our Gloucestershire FSCE Mock Tests
Once the new information has been officially released, our mock tests will provide targeted preparation for the new Gloucestershire FSCE assessment.
Our mocks will reflect all aspects of the new FSCE assessment and will include the key skills that children will be tested on, using the question formats demonstrated in the official familiarisation materials.
Children will also gain valuable experience of working accurately and confidently under the new FSCE timed conditions, including working with audio instructions. We will continue to update our mock tests as further official information is released, ensuring that our preparation remains closely aligned with the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools’ specification.
