The new GL syllabus has increased in contents and volume from the old CEM syllabus, by nearly half. We therefore cannot fit the syllabus into the weekly one to one tutoring sessions. Please note that in areas of the country where the GL has been running for a while, this syllabus is fitted into a two-year programme.
The Verbal Reasoning ’21 question types’, and the new code NVR question types, will be part of this face to face course. The Verbal Reasoning is a whole new section in the new GL 11+ test. This will include codes, numerical and verbal questions. These ’21 question types’ used to be the entire 11+ syllabus that children were taught eight years ago in Gloucestershire. I am very familiar with these styles of questions, having taught these GL types for 6 years in this period. The children will benefit from this knowledge and strategic exam technique. The planning and resources for the course have been prepared with all this in mind.
The GL course and the mocks are held at Shurdington Community Centre.
There are approximately 24 pupils in each session in the morning or afternoons on Saturdays. There are 5 helpers in each session with the tutor. Sessions run from February until June.
Morning session: 10.30-12.30am
Afternoon session: 1.30-3.30pm
